This study utilized score profiles obtained with the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory II, the 16 Personality Factor (16PF) and the MMPI-2 to analyze differentiating factors between 2 types of child molesters. Child molester typology is derived from the work of Groth (1978), Groth, Hobson, and Cary (1982), and Anderson (1990). Two types of molesters were studied, Preference Mediated Group, and a Situationally Mediated Group. Extant data for 169 men were collected from an outpatient clinic specializing in assessment and treatment of child sexual offenders. Existing data on subscale and index scores from the 3 instruments were correlated to test hypotheses about categories currently used to treat perpetrators of child sexual offense.
