High tech leaders in the Silicon Valley, California are increasingly facing a number of challenges. The challenges include but not limited to, uncertainties, complexities, fast-changing environment for products and services as well as challenges of large-scale inter-organizational and inter-cultural issues that contribute to employee turnover. Nowhere is the turnover challenge more apparent than in the turnover of ethnic minority employees in the high tech industries. Data analyses revealed a strong relationship between ethnic minority employee turnover and (a) lack of adequate support programs, (b) lack of paths to promotion and career advancement, and (c) absence of other ethnic minorities. The present study offered innovative model of retention solutions tailored to meet the retention demands of high tech firms of modern enterprise, both within and across cultures. High tech leaders are required to change their paradigms and to put aside their biases in order to successfully and truly deal with the issues that precipitate ethnic minority turnover. Leaders who seek to have an innovative organizational culture must value diversity, open communication, and creation of support programs that address the needs of the underrepresented population within the organization. It is imperative for high tech leaders to consider the implications of the research, and design creative ways to incorporate the research findings in their culture. With sound teamwork culture, inclusiveness, trust, vision, effective change management, creation of support programs, and creation of career paths, millennia high tech leaders will build an environment that fosters collaboration, diversity, employee recognition, sense of belonging, and sense of ownership of the high tech organizations.
