The purpose of this project was to examine in the narrative format the writer's experience as an individual who coped with grief. The narrative explained how the experience of losing both grandparents at a young age led to the inherent sympathetic and empathetic feelings the writer has for clients she works with as a social work student. Research articles and narratives on the topics of grief and coping were reviewed. The writer's experiences of developing her own narrative as well as social work implications were discussed.
