Liberia is a country facing great change. With the sustainability of peace since 2003, the country is at a crossroads for developing new and redeveloping old institutions and for redefining central government entities which will help to rebuild the country and promote a peaceful and sustainable change. Moving forward, the focus on education is an extremely vital part of the country as it defines and promotes the development of all sectors of life including democracy and governance (which effects civil rights, anti-corruption, peace and stability,) the economy (which sustains local markets), sustainable agriculture and health care.

Access to education in Liberia has, historically, been limiting with preferences in both gender and ethnicity. This institutional discrimination has contributed to the instability of the country and the lack of even development. This thesis analyses the contributing factors and effects of these disparities and also discusses the consequences of current efforts in the country.
