Graphene, since its birth, has attracted lots of interests and efforts in industry and academia. It is expected to be a promising candidate as the channel material in post-silicon era because of its superior mobility. Therefore, metal-graphene contact becomes crucial in graphene-based device applications and deserves detailed investigation. Topologically, there are two types of metal-graphene contact geometries: side-contact and end-contact. Currently, most researches are done exclusively for the side contact, where there are two types of metal-graphene interfaces depending on the distinctive interface interaction strengths. We have done systematic first-principles study on metal-graphene side contact and clarify the fundamental physics dictating the interface interaction behaviors. Furthermore, transport study of metal-graphene end contact is done to explore the exciting physics underlying this novel contact geometry.
