This paper accompanies the photographic exhibit: Beauty: An Exhibit of Real Stories and Real Women available online at www.willowcabinstudio.com. The exhibit consists of black and white photographic full body portraits of women and the text of their "Body Stories" as well as their "Reactions" to viewing their own body portraits. This reflection paper describes the process of selecting and photographing the exhibit subjects. It provides a lengthy exposition of the negative effects that sexist and objectifying photographs of women in advertising and entertainment have had on women's mental and physical health. It explains how the exhibit is an example of how photographs of natural and varied female body and face types can be used to counter the sexist hegemony of contrived, unnatural and unrealistic female body and face types.
