Thesis (M.A.)--University of Wyoming, 2010.
Rhetorically analyzing the online relationship between language and place has yet to sufficiently occur within ecocomposition scholarship. In order to advance the discipline, I present an ecological schematic that students and teachers can potentially use to study Web 2.0 applications, specifically social networks. Drawing on Kenneth Burke's work with language and the symbolic realm, I analyze the rhetorical features of MySpace.com. Although my findings indicate limited information, practitioners and students can use the results to begin a conversation regarding language use, identity formation, ecological relationships, and hypertextual writing online.
