尼日河(Niger River)是西非最大的河流，發源於幾內亞中南部邊境的富塔賈隆高原，曲折流向東北，在馬利東部折向東南，再流經尼日和奈及利亞注入幾內亞灣。長4,184公里(全球第十三，非洲第三)，流域面積2,090,000平方公里(非洲第三)，重要支流有貝努埃河(Benue River)，巴尼河(Bani River)等；在中游及下游各沖積出一個三角洲，河口三角洲面積約為3.6萬平方公里；水量季節變化大，夏秋雨季時廷巴克圖以上的沼澤和支流等可匯聚成大湖；上中游多急湍淺灘。下遊河段因為盛產油棕櫚，而稱為油河。
