Thesis (M.A.)--Ursuline College, 2007.
The primary focus of this case study was the integration of two expressive and holistic approaches, Art Therapy and Reiki, in the treatment of women with addictions and trauma. A selected group of seven women, residents of an adult treatment center were the participants. The main objective was to address trauma by examining the energies and various effects of trauma on the body. This was supplemented by the art therapy process. Results indicated that the participants gained numerous benefits from this combined therapeutic process. Results included: increase in relaxation, insight, self-expression, and self-esteem, while decreasing stress and anxiety. Additional research in the areas of trauma, energy work, and art therapy was recommended.Subjects--Topical Terms:
