This Modified Delphi study gathered the views of experts on human development, human personality and collectivism to facilitate the development of consensus on the subject. Human development is understood by collective societies as a holistic, multidirectional, contextual, multifactorial, and moldable process that takes place within socio-cultural structures and throughout the lifespan. Human personality as the multiple dimensions that define a human being including patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, acting, and relating reveal the totality of the person who exists within a historical, mutually interactive and particular context. Collectivism seen as a way of being in the world where connection to a group or community constitutes the most prevalent feature influences people in many different ways including identity formation, cognition, motivation, expression of emotions, communication, behavior and social connections. A modified Delphi methodology was used to collect the opinions and experiences of human development and collectivist experts. A panel of sixteen (16) experts composed of developmentalist from Africa, South America, Central America, and North America (Mexico and USA), participated in the research. The research was conducted in two rounds in which qualitative and quantitative data was collected. The first round consisted of a Delphi Questionnaire A with five open-ended questions and provided the researcher with the information to formulate the second questionnaire. The instrument for the second round consisted of a Delphi Agreement Likert-Scale with 50 items. It was sent to the panel of experts approximately eight weeks apart from the first round. The second round gave the experts an opportunity to re-evaluate their ideas in light of the additional information provided by other panel members. A measure of the level of agreement and consensus was obtained by using the median and the inter-quartile range (IQR). An analysis of the data helped in identifying the collective views of human development, human personality, mental illness and healing. Additional studies from the Asian and African continents are needed to better understand the impact of collectivism. Future research is needed to understand lifespan human development and human personality within then socio-cultural context.
