Thesis (M.A.)--Royal Roads University (Canada), 2005.
The industrialized storied land prophesied by the ancient dreamers has become a reality, and has changed the worldview of the Beaver Indians (Dane-zaa people). The altered environment has given rise to the need for a shared vision of the traditional ecological knowledge of the hunters and gatherers with the realities of resource development. This thesis will examine the use of storytelling information management system (STIMS) to bring together modern scientific information and traditional knowledge. It explores the possibility of re-visioning the application referral processes between Doig River First Nation (DFRN) and the Oil and Gas Commission (OGC). This requires development of information systems that align with shared values and principles. The journey involves understanding multiple land use objectives and relationships. The quest is for learning wise stories of the past and present to unleash our creative power in redesigning a business model for the future.
