Background: The purpose of the proposed research is to assess the quality of life (QoL) of orthodontic patients. Aims of the study include: information regarding parent QoL assessment of their child and overall enhancement of orthodontic patient assessment. Methods: Our study used a questionnaire consisting of 22 questions for patients and their accompanying parent. After the subject completed the written survey, a correlation to the orthodontic problem was done with measurements on plaster models utilizing the Peer Assessment Rating (PAR) index. The results were analyzed statistically. Results: Differences were noted in some areas patients to parents and pre-post patients. No gender differences were found. No correlation to PAR score was found. Conclusion: This study found few differences in the sample. Perhaps study limitations affected results found. Additional investigation is necessary to determine QoL scores in the orthodontic patient population.
