This study used a pre-experimental, one group, pre-test, post-test design to evaluate the effectiveness of individualized diet therapy for Caucasian females aged 20--50. The dietary intervention resulted in weight loss occurring in 75% of the participating subjects.

PHCPs need to help their patients make lifestyle changes, in small steps, that will lead to moderate and lasting weight losses. An individualized approach to weight management, with a focus on lifestyle modification, holds the most promise in aiding with the long-term reduction in the prevalence of obesity.
