The topic of cognitive control therapy was addressed as a theory and therapy. A review with extensive critiques was done, along with a critical analysis. Guidelines with case illustrations were developed to serve as an orientation for the therapy. A narrative method was used with a literature review covering the years 1960 to 2004. A final feature presentation, along with recommendations for the theory and therapy, resulted. Cognitive control therapy as an integrating psychotherapy was improved upon and made more understandable and readily accessible for future therapists and researchers.
