With the demands of today's world, educators know that the upgrade of equipment, update of programs, and innovation of methodologies are necessary for quality teaching and learning. This study examined teachers' and students' perceptions regarding technology use in education and the attitudes and performance of students in Christian Life Education (CLE). This quasi-experimental study used nonequivalent groups with pre- and post-program surveys and focus group interviews. Sixth grade students and their CLE teachers in the two most comparable all-boys Jesuit grade schools in the Philippines comprised the sample for the study. Researcher-designed lesson plans followed the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm. Focus group interviews followed a structured format, were recorded on tape, videotaped, and transcribed.

Findings generated by using quantitative analysis and qualitative data were also presented. Data showed a positive change in teacher perceptions about how students' projects improved with technology use. Nonetheless, teachers were undecided whether students' quality of writing had improved when they used computers. Pertaining to student perceptions, those in the treatment and control groups were found to attach similar value to technology use in education. Findings also revealed that there was no statistical difference between students who were taught with technology and those who were taught the conventional method. Qualitatively, teachers emphasized changes in student performance among those in the treatment group such as the ability to work more independently and collaboratively, faster pace in doing activities, and evidence of creativity because of technology use. Concerning attitudes toward CLE, within-group analysis demonstrated that students in classes with technology showed more significant positive attitudes than those in classes without technology.

In addition, the study investigated technology status in Philippine Jesuit grade schools. Out of eight schools, four reported that they had fully implemented the description of mission in their technology plan. Overall, interest among students, parents or community, and support of school administration was not lacking. Rather, financial concerns, problems with Internet access, lack of incentives to use technology in classes, difficulties with professional development, and insufficient time to learn new technologies were inhibiting the acquisition and use of technology.
