Thesis (M.S.)--University of Southern California, 2000.
Thirty-one volunteers with neck pain and loss in range of motion for longer than 1 year were randomly assigned to Traditional Chinese Therapeutic Massage (TCTM), home based exercise program or no treatment groups. After 6 weeks patients were evaluated using the Neck Pain Questionnaire and range of motion (ROM) test. Patients in TCTM and exercise programs were followed for 6 additional weeks with no intervention. The no treatment group was then given a 6 weeks' TCTM plus exercise treatment. TCTM demonstrated a significant reduction in the scoring of pain questionnaire (p < 0.05) and significant improvement in ROM (p < 0.05) after 6 week's treatment, and after 6 week's follow-up.
