Thesis (M.A.)--Roosevelt University, 2008.
Personality characteristics and group cohesion are often talked-about subjects in psychology. In this study, the experimenter surveyed 65 employees (18 managers and 47 employees) within the restaurant industry to see if personality predicted perceived cohesion. To do this, the experimenter first created interaction variables between each of the five personality traits and each demographic variable, and then looked at the main effects between each personality trait. Although it was predicted that personality predicted perceived cohesion, this was not found. There were, however, a few significant predictors on their own, including extraversion, age, and the interactions of agreeableness by openness and extraversion by neuroticism.
