This dissertation mainly consists of two parts. The first review the format ion, the establishment, and the problems of past "Unit type" industrial relations system. The second probes into the character, the role, and the interrelation of each doer (labor, manager, government, labor union, and party organization, etc.) of industrial relations or China at the market economy shift period.

This dissertation examines industrial relations of China adopting comparison approach and the Dunlop system theory through the independent inquiry and the case study in the peculiar context of the Chinese industrial society, and clarifies the contradiction point in the process of construction to the "Market type" industrial relations system.

This dissertation is one attempt to clarify a new assignment of restructuring of the industrial relations system of China at the market economy shift period theoretically and empirically. It tries to make up for the blank of the system research on Chinese industrial relations.
