Comparative analysis as a qualitative research methodology was used for this study. Data were collected from archives (relevant documents), interviews, and observations. The particular areas of interest are the government policy, implementation, and curriculum.

Results indicated that the art teacher preparation programs in Taiwan and the United States shared many differences and similarities. The findings suggested that Taiwan's art teacher preparation program has experienced some influence from the United States.
