This study foregrounds the forgotten theater of the well-known Argentinan poet, Alfonsina Storni (1898-1938). The dramas studied are, El amo del mundo, La tecnica de Mister Dougall , and Dos farsas pirotecnicas, which include, Cimbelina en 1900 y pico and Polixena v la cocinerita. With a different theoretical approach than previously used, Storni's dramas are revealed to be more substantial and innovative than they were initially perceived. Focused on a textual analysis of the dialogs in her four dramas for adults, Storni's feminism is shown to be a struggle for equality between men and women, and not as an attack against men, as it was construed until recently. The new interpretation encourages readers to re-evaluate and explore Storm's neglected works.

520 $a Following Storni's own disagreement with the criticism of her first comedy, and complying with her request to read all her poetic, journalistic and dramatic writings in order to comprehend her message more accurately, this analysis compares her dramas with three of her poems and several of her journal articles pertaining to the theme of gender relations. Specifically, the poems included are, "Tu me quieres blanca," "Divertidas estancias a Don Juan," and "Hombre pequenito." These poems are central to the argument against the misinterpretation of Storni's message, because they too have been read as dennigrating men. Among her journalistic articles, the study incorporates "¿Quien es el enemigo del divorcio?," "A proposito de las incapacidades relativas de la mujer," and "La complejidad femenina."
520 $a As the title suggests, the study observes how Storni presents women who challenge patriarchal society, by using mechanisms allowed to them by their particular class, and their own psychology. As a result of the unproductive interaction between women and men who remain set on patriarchal ideology, Storni shows that women can find a solution to their predicament in diverse ways: three escape their stituation, and three manage to find a middle-ground. Ultimately, all are presented as active agents of their own destinies.
