eV/c Au + Au collisions at the AGS, Brookhaven is presented. With the reconstruction of the reaction plane event by event, the flow signals of the transverse energy
$e
\sb{T}$ and identified protons and charged pions are quantified by the Fourier moments of the azimuthal distribution with respect to the reaction plane. The Fourier moments charactering the anisotropic flow are studied as a function of rapidity (or pseudo-rapidity), transverse momentum, and centrality. The analysis shows that protons (or nucleons) exhibit a strong directed flow while pions collectively move in the opposite direction. A typical S-shaped distribution of the first moments (the directed flow) is observed in the rapidity space. The transverse momentum dependence of the first Fourier moment of protons suggests a picture of a transversely boosted thermal source for proton flow. We observe non-zero positive second Fourier moments charactering an elliptical event shape in the measurements of transverse energy and proton flow. This component, whose major axis is oriented in the reaction plane, is of a different orientation from the phenomena of "squeeze-out" as observed at lower energies. The centrality dependence of the azimuthally anisotropic flow consistently peaks at intermediate centralities and vanishes for very central and peripheral collisions. Comparisons with cascade models show the need to introduce either a mean filed potential for nucleons in RQMD or an energy-dependent repulsive scattering in ARC.
