This study is concerned with need for the implementation of family life education in the undergraduate curriculum at the Technological University of the Philippines. This study focused on three questions: (1) Is there an acknowledged interest in or need of information among the undergraduate students of the Technological University of the Philippines in the area of family life education? (2) What specific information in the area of family life education do undergraduate students want to have? (3) How is it possible to meet the TUP students' desire for information in the area of family life education?

This study which was done across about two years made use of literature, interviews, questionnaires, observation and teaching of some classes, and the holding of a seminar-workshop on love, courtship, marriage, sex and parenthood at the Technological University of the Philippines.

The following are the significant findings from the above research methods: (1) The existing undergraduate curricular offerings at TUP have very little in the area of family life. (2) TUP students get most of their information concerning sexuality primarily from their peers as well as mass media, including pornographic magazines, videos and movies. (3) Most students, teachers, alumni and university administrators who were asked agreed that there is a need for family life education. (4) The TUP administration is willing to consider some curricular improvements in this area provided that cautions are taken and the cherished Filipino values are upheld.

As a result of this study, it was recommended that family life education be included in the general education of the undergraduate students of the Technological University of the Philippines taking the expressed goals and values of the Filipino society, the cultural diversity of the people of the Filipinos, the needs of the students, and the teaching methods that work for the present generation into consideration.
