As part of my graduate thesis, I am creating a teaching tool that will introduce twentieth century female artists to my eighth grade twentieth century visual arts students. This is an attempt to promote equity among the genders in a male dominated textbook and curriculum series. In the hurried pace of set curriculum guidelines teachers needed a resource that would allow them to include female artists into the curriculum but most lack the time to gather the information themselves. I set out to create a teaching tool that would allow my fellow Fulton county teachers the flexibility of including more female artists into their repertoire of lessons with little time spent on their part doing research. This tool became my thesis, a complete curriculum with prints, lessons, biographical information on the artists, examples of projects and, most importantly, a CD-Rom that will bring each artist and their work in full color into the students lives.

The first part of this paper will introduce the curriculum. The second part will focus on the literature of the feminist art movement and how it applies to modern art education. The third section is an overview of each lesson and a curriculum that will teach the eighth grade Fulton County QCC objectives based on female artists. The curriculum includes lesson plans for each artist following the Fulton County guidelines for eighth grade Art Connections class. The final part of this thesis is a CD-Rom that has five PowerPoint presentations related to each of the five units covered. The CD-Rom will be copied and used for educational purposes within the Fulton County educational system.*
