In this dissertation, a solution of the
$h
\sb\infty$ control problem of nonlinear systems with sampled measurement output is given. The nonlinear
$h
\sb\infty$ control problem with sampled measurement output is to design a controller, for a given nonlinear plant, which internally stabilizes the closed-loop system and renders the ${\cal L}\sb2/l\sb2$ mixed induced norm from disturbance inputs to regulated outputs less than or equal to some prespecified positive number. In solving this problem, it is assumed that only sampled measurement output is available for constructing the feedback loop. The main result of this dissertation provides sufficient conditions for the existence of a (local) solution and an example of a controller solving the
$h
\sb\infty$ control problem with sampled measurement output. As a special case, the case of linear systems is also discussed. Although only sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution for linear systems can be obtained by the method proposed in this dissertation, the proof is much simpler than proofs of sufficiency in former work. Comments on necessity for linear systems is also given.
