Connecting communities with resources in the arts is the purpose of <italic> arthome</italic>, located on the internet at http://www.arthome.org. The purpose of this final project for the author's Master's Degree in Social Policy at Empire State College in New York was to disseminate useful information and resources to artists, arts organizations and arts advocates through a website. The paper traces the history of decreased national funding through the 1980s and the effect of censorship on funding opportunities. These events led to a decreased sense of value that the arts can bring to communities among legislators and the American people. The process of developing a website is explained, with emphasis on the importance of nurturing the arts in local communities. The challenges of creating high quality community arts programs are tested through the author's involvement as director of youth arts programs in a museum.Subjects--Topical Terms:
