This project is the essential content analysis in the development of the Education to Practice Questionnaire. A pilot survey was distributed to senior ranking nurse educators and practice leaders. The accompanying Personal Data Sheet collects important qualitative demographic data used in identification of professional sets for future surveys. The intent of the EPQ is for it to be used in studies to measure nursing leaders opinions and attitudes significant in understanding new nurse transition from education to clinical practice. This phenomena is rooted in the Meleis Transitions Theory and the Brim & Wheeler Role Socialization Theory. Analysis of this pilot data identifies factors which increase survey participation and return rate. As care takers of the future of nursing, nurses must maintain the highest professional level of practice. It is recommended that all nurses, whether educators, administrators, managers, or patient care givers, examine their interactions with novice nurses.
