Four choreographic works were created to complete the Master of Fine Arts project: <italic>Collectables</italic>, 9½ minutes; <italic>Trace Elements</italic>, 5 minutes; <italic>Irrepressible Reality</italic>, 14½ minutes; and <italic>Room for Waiting</italic>, 14 minutes. <italic> Trace Elements</italic> was choreographed by Jennifer Salk; the remaining works were created by the candidate. The works were performed at the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater at California State University, Long Beach: <italic> Collectables</italic> and <italic>Trace Elements</italic> in concert 5–8 October 2000, <italic>Irrepressible Reality</italic> in concert 22–25 February 2001, and <italic>Room for Waiting</italic> in concert 27–30 September 2001.

520 $a <italic>Collectables</italic> used accumulation of movement as a metaphor for materialism in society. <italic>Trace Elements</italic>, commissioned and performed by the candidate, was based on the ending of a serious relationship. <italic> Irrepressible Reality</italic> explored the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. <italic> Room for Waiting</italic> was based on the anticipation, boredom, and frustration one feels when waiting for something. These works are documented and analyzed in this paper.
