It examines the intense reforms that were launched under the dictatorship of general Pinochetand summarizes the three democratic governments of Presidents Aylwin, Frei Ruiz-Tagle, Lagos, and largely coversthe mandate of President Michelle Bachelet. Ricardo Ffrench-Davis challenges the widespread theory that there is only one successful Chilean economic model, through in-depth analysis he demonstrates that since 1973 there were several sub-periods of notably diverse economic and social outcomes. These models are discussed throughout the book, highlighting the trends of Chile's economic growth during the past 50 years, revealing the relevant successes and failures of the Chilean economy.
