Global health partnerships: an introduction -- Modern pharmaceuticalindustry: history, current position and challenges -- The BRICAs in global pharmaceutical provision -- Global health partnerships between multinationals and the BRICAs: a planting strategy.
The challenges facing multinational pharmaceutical companies have never been greater and the need for an innovative solution has never beenmore urgent. The decrease of profits in pharmaceuticalmarkets in developed countries, the increasing pressure of price controls from regulators, the rapid increase of epidemics, pandemics and chronic illnesses, and a contracted global economy have led to a pessimistic forecast of the pharmaceutical industry in developed countries. On the other hand, the prospects for pharmaceutical development have never been better in BRICAs (Brazil, Russia, India,China and African countries). This book provides a new strategy to resolve the imbalance in global pharmaceutical supply and demand chains by proposing a new global health partnershipmodel between the stakeholders in developed countries and those in BRICAs. This strategy aims to multiply the strengths of all stakeholders and create a sustainable growth scenario that benefits all populations.
