Given the complex communication networks, influx of technology and new legislation; the issue of privacy has become a prominent issue within commercial banking during the last decade. In order to do a study such as an ethnography, the researcher needs to be placed in an environment where the privacy of the participants equals that of the consumers being protected. Organizations, such as banks, bond collectively, form an identity and develop an organizational culture. By identifying an individual's emotional connection to money researchers in communication studies can begin to understand complex relational issues that revolve around financial issues. Through the lens of Communication Privacy Management Theory these issues of organization, emotional connection and self-reflexivity have been examined through a face-to-face aspect, proceeding future research which may examine electronic contexts.
