Within the context of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Paramus, New Jersey, the pastor addressed a regressive condition in the congregation by experimenting with transformational leadership theories based on systems approach introduced by Robert E. Quinn and Edwin H. Friedman. The premise of the experiment is that a change in one part of a system, especially the part that plays a leadership role, affects all other parts, and that transformation does not depend on data and techniques but depends on the leader's evolvement in maturity and integrity. With over a decade of experience, the pastor had already learned various leadership techniques, but he discovered that the techniques did not make him a transformational leader. Instead of applying new techniques to solve the problems, he decided to experiment a systems approach to leadership, which required him to experience transformation by himself before he could affect his environment.

The author put Jesus teaching of an organic process in action: "Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." (John 12:24 NRSV) To achieve this result, he designed a systemic transformational process using Jesus' eight Beatitudes as a vehicle to carry Robert E. Quinn's eight practices to enter the fundamental state of leadership and Edwin H. Friedman's self-differentiated leadership theories. The result was a life changing experience, along with an invitation to other interested leaders for collaborative propagation of this transformational process to be used in their own or larger contexts.
