- 44 p.
Adviser: Patricia K. Miltenberger.
Thesis (M.A.)--University of Nevada, Reno, 2008.
In November of 2004 the U.S. Department of Education invited the financial aid directors from all Nevada colleges and universities to a meeting on student loan default prevention because Nevada's default rate was well above the national average and second only to Puerto Rico. Since then, the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and its member institutions have been devising strategies to reduce default rates on campuses across the state. In 2007 NSHE financial aid directors agreed on 17 data points to be collected as part of a system-wide defaulter analysis project. This study examines the results of the project in the context of recent student loan default research.
