This case study analyzed a process used to create a death-education curriculum for use in Hebrew schools, also known as synagogue schools. The process included extracting fundamental Jewish teachings on death and mourning from contemporary texts. These fundamental teachings provided the core teachings for the curriculum. Next, classroom activities found in two secular death-education curricula were adapted to provide activities for use in Hebrew schools. The study's findings indicated that it is possible to use contemporary texts to create a death-education curriculum for use in Hebrew schools. These findings were supported through the creation of a sample death-education curriculum. Several areas need further investigation, such as the development of in-service programs designed to prepare teachers to deal with the emotionally charged subject of death and mourning.
