The U.S. Air Force offers career opportunities with career mobility in many specialties. African American women serve in the Contracting Specialty. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mentoring relationships and career mobility of the military career progress of active duty U.S. African American women serving in the contracting specialty. A questionnaire was used with a quantitative approach to survey the sample of individuals. They are African American Senior Enlisted Noncommissioned Officers and Senior Officers in the Contracting career field. Data was collected using the Alleman Mentoring Activity Questionnaire. To simplify the process of data collection, an electronic version of the instrument was used to minimize the data collection. The results addressed the mentoring characteristics, relationships, process, and effects. The best practice processes are included.Subjects--Topical Terms:
