Lorde's Zami , Sister Outsider, A Burst of Light and The Cancer Journals alongside Conversations with Audre Lorde and Warrior Poet: A Biography of Audre Lorde provides an analysis of her life and works. Cheryl Glenn's Unspoken, Krista Ratcliffe's Rhetorical Listening: Identification Gender Whiteness, Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues and Cherrie Moraga's Loving in the War Years analyzes materials alongside Lorde's life and works to exemplify her chosen and forced silences, which brought agency and empowerment. Deaf culture is used as an example within society where forced and chosen silences are exhibited.
