The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in the drawings by children who used two different media for creating visual art. The study compared procedures to complete the drawings and the results of drawings created with the two different media. The individual elements of art were the basis for the forms developed by the researcher to analyze each drawing.

The analysis of the element space, value, and color indicated no significant difference in the drawings, and the presence of the element or the degree to which it was emphasized in the drawing. Additionally, there is not a significant difference in the recognizable subject matter in the two drawings.

The study found that there were significant differences in the computer drawings and the drawings made with traditional media in the use of lines and shapes. The computer drawings contain more geometric shapes than organic shapes. In the computer drawings there are more lines than on the traditional drawings and there are more lines drawn with the straight edge tool on the computer when compared to the lines drawn using a ruler in the traditional drawings.
