Adherence to Highly Active Antiretroviral Treatment (HAART) of less than 95% leads to the development of drug resistance to available medications as well as compromises an individual's health and future treatment options. This study sought to help with adherence by analyzing the effects of an eight-week psycho-educational support group that focused on coping strategies to reduce anger, depression, anxiety, goal setting, and problem solving related to taking HIV drugs and staying healthy. The subjects of this study were English speaking men and women, 18 years or older, diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The researcher examined the relationship between self efficacy, anxiety, depression and adherence to HAART.
