Dana Spicer fabricates basic transmission components and assembles shafts, gears, castings and electronic controls into powershift transmissions for off-highway vehicles. It focused on improving lead times at the aggregate planning level to improve the efficiency of several manufacturing plans. A model was developed employing a queueing network approach consisting of four steps: lead time estimation and lot sizing, tuning which requires management intervention, scheduling and execution.
