In 1984, the Swiss Bruno Manser came to explore the caves of Borneo. As he travelled inland, he encountered the Penans, a nomadic people whose 160 million year old home in the rainforest is falling prey to logging, and quickly took up their cause. At the rate the trees are being cut down, this lush ancient woodland will disappear in ten years. In his six years living among the Penans, the "Jaja of the Rainforest" has become much more than a nuisance to Borneo's pro-logging government: two hundred soldiers stalk Manser, for the price on his head is
