This book provides information about microplastic (MP) pollution and the solutions for the same in the Indian context. As our era is known as the Plasticene, the age of plastics and MPs are now widespread in our environment, found in various biomes from the ocean floor to high mountain ranges or ecosystems. Humans can consume MPs from these compartments by ingesting, inhalation, and dermal contact. MPs also entered the food chain and web, creating new risks and hazards for food safety. So there is an urgent need to manage MPs. Worldwide researchers are focusing on microplastics, but India is still in the initial stage. So this book provides a base for the researcher in India to study microplastics. This book includes sources, fate, and distribution of microplastics; analytical methods; ecological risks; toxicity and health risks; indicators of MPs; and management and mitigation of microplastics in India.
