There is widespread agreement within our society that creativity is beneficial because this process allows the generation of new and valuable commodities. Recreational travel stimulates creativity by providing novel and diverse experiences, positive emotions, and nurtures divergent cognitive and creative thought. Creativity has become a normatively used construct within tourism, yet there is little research on creative tourism. With minimal research available, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between creativity and travel. This study hypothesized that there would be a significant positive relationship between travel (predictor variable/ exogenous variable) and creativity (outcome variable/ endogenous variable). It was also hypothesized that there was a significant positive relationship between culturally immersive travel (predictor variable/ exogenous variable) and creativity (outcome variable/ endogenous variable). A travel survey, Global Measure of Creativity Capacity, Ideation Evaluation Preference Scale, and Guilford's Alternative Uses Task were administered online via Qualtrics to263 participants. Structural equation modeling ascertained that there was no significant relationship between creativity and travel and creativity and culturally immersive travel. While results were not ideal, it was one of the first studies to explore creative tourism, and recommendations are given for future studies.
