Historical studies have emerged as an important branch of discipline within the framework of historical theology. Historical research seeks to discover, evaluate, and synthesize Christian beliefs and practices by maintaining a high regard for the historical context. Based on this understanding, the local church composes history pertaining to its activities, movements, and events taking place throughout this historical trajectory. As a result, that church can commemorate God's redemptive work and sovereignty. This dissertation compiles the history of the Atayal Presbyterian Church's B'bu Pentecostal Movement since 1972 within Taiwan. The gospel arrived in Taiwan in 1911 settling into the Atayal context. However, it could not flourish due to restrictive colonial oppression at that time. Nevertheless, after the colonial period came to an end in 1945, the Taiwanese and foreign missionaries began to evangelize in the Atayal's B'ru region again. These missionary efforts empowered the Atayal people to serve as evangelists as they worked among their people.Looking back at the history of the modern Christian Church, the global Christian Pentecostal Movement can be traced back to the early twentieth century with a major locus being the Azusa Street revival in California, USA. Under the impetus of the Pentecostal Movement, missionaries entered various countries to preach the gospel and share their individual doctrinal influences. Due to missionary involvement, the Pentecostal Movement began to expand into different continents. However, the birth of{A0}the Pentecostal Movement of the Atayal Church was not formed through the influences of foreign missionaries but rather came into existence through unique forms of localization. Thus, this research uniquely investigates the ways the B'bu Pentecostal Movement began by examining the following areas: (1) a biblical overview of the historical narrative of composing a church movement's historiography; (2) the context issues that may have facilitated the movement, and (3) how the ecclesial context may have stimulated the continuity and discontinuity of the movement. The study of these three areas serve as a foundation for compiling the Atayal Presbyterian Church's B'bu Pentecostal Movement, providing the groundwork for archiving the history of these tribal people within the Taiwanese context.
