Exploring the experiences of Contemporary Black women moving through creative therapeutic approaches to manage symptoms/expressions of stress, anxiety, and depression is dynamic. This population has historically been plagued with the injustices of racism and sexism which link to direct and indirect health outcomes. The health inequities this population faces are some of the root causes of high rates of lupus, obesity, adverse birth outcomes, untreated depression, and countless other health-related challenges this population is disproportionately afflicted with. Like all sciences, psychological research is primarily from a Eurocentric perspective and based on Eurocentric norms. Expanding upon the study of minorities, particularly Black Women in medicine and mental health is integral. This paper will add to that research and contribute to the context and experience of Contemporary Black Women moving through stress, anxiety, and depression through the lens of practitioners who support them.
