受到法國作曲家德布西(Claude Debussy, 1862-1918)、拉威爾(Maurice Ravel, 1875-1937)和佛瑞(Gabriel Faure, 1845-1924)等人的影響，亨利•杜悌尤(Henri Dutilleux, 1916-2013)早期的作品多混用調性與調式，並使用平行和弦、連續五度等創作素材，其鋼琴獨奏曲集《隨波逐流》更被視為具強烈的仿作性質；同時，生長於充滿藝術氣息家庭的杜悌尤，亦受到繪畫與文學的影響，甚至由普魯斯特小說《追憶似水年華》(A la recherche du temps perdu)的「記憶概念」發展出中期後重要的創作技法「主題的漸進發展」(croissance progressive)。《鋼琴奏鳴曲，作品一》作於1947-1948年間，屬於早期的創作，此時杜悌尤正處於創作理念與風格的轉捩點；而作為具「過渡」性質之作品，杜悌尤也成功地在「傳統」與「創新」之間呈現出完美的平衡。因此，本論文將透過探討法國音樂的發展、作曲家的生平與風格發展，進一步聚焦於《鋼琴奏鳴曲，作品一》，探討此曲之特色與重要性，並就個人經驗提出詮釋之看法。
