The role of a pastor in churches today is demanding and challenging. Pastors often feel isolated and without adequate resource support to help them effectively cope with the rigors of their ministerial position. Many pastors leave the ministry after a few years due to occupational burnout and role overload. Several pastors experience stress that can take a toll on them emotionally and physically. Their substantial work responsibilities can negatively impact their family lives, as maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be hard to achieve. This project resource will consist of a training program composed of 2 three-hour modules on self-care and mindfulness that pastors can utilize to promote their emotional and physical well-being. The curriculum includes PowerPoint presentations, psychoeducation, mindfulness exercises, self-measurement scales, and group discussion. The purpose of this program will be to equip pastors with effective self-care and mindfulness strategies that will allow them to better position themselves to function optimally in their ministries by more effectively managing the stress inherent in their ministerial positions.
