Thesis (M.A.)--San Diego State University, 2023.
Includes bibliographical references
Focusing on two distinct anti-colonial actions organized by alQaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society and Decolonize This Place, this thesis delves into how their actions can be described within the realm of anti-dispossession, as their decolonizing, feminist, anti-imperialist, humanistic actions strive for disrupting the stability of the settler-colonial nation-states (the United States and the Israeli state) that surround and suffocate our communities (near and far). By understanding the bonds between the nation-state and the university and the museum (the locations of the actions being studied), I assert that the groups' sort of anti-dispossession elevates their community organizing abilities, making it difficult for the state to obstruct the work that they do. Drawing on scholarship dealing with decolonization and transnational feminism, I analyze the two groups' techniques by examining their social media presence and various documentation of their actions. I use scholarship built on transnational feminism, queer theory, and decolonial theory to understand the strength in the mobilizations.
