Work-based learning (WBL) is a form of education that combines classroom learning with practical work experience. This approach is becoming increasingly popular as it helps students develop a range of skills employers highly value, such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, and leadership. This professional practice dissertation (PPD) discussed the benefits of WBL and its importance in preparing students for the workforce. The action research study examined and recommended specific tools to promote a WBL program to solve the ever-growing workforce crisis. Focus group data, survey data, and academic documents were analyzed to seek ways to support the development of WBL. This study's findings resulted in the recommendation of WBL experiences for all students and the creation of a digital WBL tool kit. This action research PPD provided recommendations and resources for school districts to consider. In conclusion, this study recommended the promotion and expansion of WBL as it can be a powerful instrument for enhancing the link between education and employment.
