Humans have five basic senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste. In fact, humans describe more senses than the traditional five, and their origins vary. The list can include the sense of time, mutual inductance, equilibrium(sense of balance), thermoception - the sense of heat, etc. The sensing organs associated with each sense send information to the brain to help us understand and perceive the world around us. However these senses of people do not exist independently. People's senses receive all kinds of information from sense organs at the same time. In the vast majority of cases humans receive cross signals from different senses. This thesis project will be mainly focused on exploring the impact of the intersection of human vision, hearing and touch.Synesthesia, as a unique condition which many humans have, links multiple senses together. Research shows that synesthetes often have a normal or even higher level of intelligence and creativity. What is perhaps more striking is that if we look at occupations of synaesthetes, or their hobbies, we find that they tend to gravitate more towards the arts. So these unusual experiences are probably very beautiful for them, and it probably inspires them to create art.As the experiences in the daily life of the synesthete take place, it is only natural that the synesthete has an affinity for creative art and a higher ability. Synesthesia is based on the senses, so learning the human senses as sensory design is the most important part. Although there have been many designs and art works based on synesthesia, such as Kandinsky's artwork, few people have done work in the field of interior design. This project has conducted an in-depth exploration of synesthesia. It does not focus on synesthesia literally, but inherits the characteristics of synesthesia and considers how to integrate human senses from the perspective of interior design. As a result of the intense sensory stimulation in this project and the sense of atmosphere created by combining it with other sensory stimulation, artists, art school students, and people with a desire to be inspired can have a sensory experience like no other. The research of synesthesia leads this project to the overall spatial strategy which is to create a random pathway. It is based on how human-beings perceive information, that everyone has different sensitivity to information, and that these differences affect people's choices. Everyone in here makes their own choices based on the hook of different information. So in general it will be a route with random possibilities. Because people choose different paths in this huge maze, and they can even get lost, different people can have completely different experiences. This project is located in 558 Broadway, Soho, Manhattan, New York. Soho has a long history of inspiring New York's creative communities, which makes this project much more effective and enables users to understand and experience synesthesia. Because of the site's unique characteristics, it is possible to create different heights and sizes of space conditions, so different conditions and degrees of sensory stimulation can be achieved.
