This dissertation seeks to fill this pedagogical gap through a, first of its kind, online guide showing video of dancers completing the steps, preceded by the ballet teacher demonstrating the combinations, with appropriate music being played that match these combinations, and explanation as to why this music is appropriate, with a PDF of the music being played with appropriate annotations/adjustments directly in the score. The ballet technique class is a system by which classical ballet dancers learn to train their body to meet the demands of choreography. Ballet classes are typically made up of multiple phrases of dance movements known as enchainement or combinations. Each combination has a sequence of individual dance steps. These dance steps which are in French such as plie, tendu, and pirouette are done from various positions. The ballet class is divided into barre and center work of various combinations. Playing for a ballet technique class is one of the most specialized areas in the collaborative piano field. I grew up as a ballet dancer, have pursued collaborative piano as my career, and have the opportunity of approaching dance accompanying from both the dancer and collaborative pianist's perspective.
