The study aimed to provide an additional understanding of South Korean high school teachers' personalities and self-disclosure attitudes on social media, and eventually contribute to benefiting the class employing social media as a learning or communication tool. The theoretical framework of this study was that six dimensions of the HEXACO personality traits are related to attitudes towards self-disclosure on social media. Data analysis was conducted using the survey responses from 114 South Korean high school teachers on the questionnaires of HEXACO personality traits and self-disclosure attitudes on social media. First, the score distributions of HEXACO personality traits were examined and presented in number data as well as visuals using segmented bar charts. Next, correlational relationships between six personality dimensions and three subtypes of self-disclosure attitudes on social media were assessed to explore the relationship between teachers' personalities and self-disclosure attitudes. In the results, Extraversion and Openness to Experience showed significantly positive relationships with self-disclosing attitudes on social media with moderate strengths of correlation. Other personality traits only showed weak correlations with self-disclosure attitudes, and possible explanations on such relationships are given in the study. The interpretations and implications of this study add to the exploration of teachers' personal characteristics and behaviors in and outside of classroom. Future research should expand the scope of this study being limited to South Korean high school teachers, and also be able to suggest how teachers should properly and safely use self-disclosure on social media to promote positive student-teacher relationship and learning environment.
